Seine River Itinerary

Day 1: St Denis (Paris)

Say bon voyage to day-to-day life for a few days, and hello to the fabled River Seine. Your journey will begin in 'The City of Light', Paris and explore northern France. A wealth of cosmopolitan cities, towns and heart-melting landscapes await you. You’ll also have the opportunity to get acquainted with the French 'joie de vivre', of course. And Paris? We'll put you right at the heart of the action – perfect for discovering the beauty of this romantic city. Welcome aboard!

Day 2: Les Andelys

You'll quickly lose track of time in Normandy’s capital. But you’re reminded of it again by the 600-year-old ‘Big Clock’. One of the world’s oldest astronomical clocks and with just one hand - for the hour; minutes and seconds just weren’t so important back then. With this laid-back attitude in mind, the best way to while away time here is to stroll towards the centre past the medieval timber-framed houses.

Day 3: Rouen

Rouen goes by several names – ‘The Gothic City’ and ‘The City of 100 Bell Towers’ among them. Rouen Cathedral is partly responsible for both. Thanks to the work of Claude Monet, this Gothic masterpiece is recognised across the world. And there’s something else this city is known for too. Rouen is where the ashes of a peasant’s daughter were scattered into the Seine in an attempt to prevent a martyr cult from developing around the young woman who was burned at the stake here in 1431. The name of this woman? Joan of Arc.

Day 4: Caudebec-en-Caux

Our port on the Seine today is laidback Caudebec-en-Caux. This tranquil little town is located in the heart of Normandy with its impressive Brotonne Bridge stretching over its part of the river. A chance to explore traditional French life without the hustle and bustle of the city, the soaring Notre Dame church is a must-visit, and its location, with the Brotonne forest on its doorstep means you'll never be too far from a beautiful view.

Day 5: Les Andelys - Vernon

The pleasingly petite town of Les Andelys is set in one of the most picturesque patches of the Seine. Expect a tranquil spot to explore today, but with a no less significant place in history. Perched on the hillside are the remarkable ruins of Château Gaillard which are open to explore at certain times of the year. This vast complex was where Richard the Lionheart kept watch for the advance of the enemy - the French - through the Seine valley and towards Vernon.

Day 6: Vernon - St Denis (Paris)

Today will undoubtedly be one of the highlights of your Seine voyage: you’ll have the opportunity to visit Claude Monet’s famous house and garden in Giverny. It is a magnet for art and culture lovers and those of a romantic inclination – and rightly so. The verdant garden looks like a meadow of dancing flowers straight off the canvas of an impressionist painting. The highlight is the magical lily pond, the subject of one of the world’s most valuable paintings. And you’ll be able to admire it up close – savour every moment.

Day 7: Paris

Even if you’ve never been to Paris before, we're sure you'll feel like you recognise every corner of this iconic city. Countless films, books, paintings, poems and songs have been set in and inspired by the city of love. Yet there’s always more to uncover. The fashion capital of the world, a mecca of art and culture, a shining light for gourmets and a metropolis for media, education and political and economic power – Paris is all of this and then some. The 'City of Lights' has a beauty which never fades. The Eiffel Tower, Arc de Triomphe, Notre Dame, Madeleine, Opéra, Sacré-Coeur de Montmartre, Louvre, Dôme des Invalides and Centre Pompidou are sure to be high on your list, and we can't wait to show you around.

Day 8: Paris

Your Seine Cruise comes to an end this morning as you disembark in Paris after a final breakfast on board.
