Here you can join an optional excursion which takes you through one of the most beautiful landscapes in Southern France. Your tour will include a visit to one of the numerous caves in the area, such as the Grottes des Madeleines, which has no less than 25 subterranean halls, or the Grotte Chauvet, home to the oldest cave paintings in the world. You will also enjoy a visit to one of the Ardeche's lavender producers to learn about the different types of lavender and their uses. During the course of the evening, your ship continues southwards to the city of Avignon.
DAY 3: Arles

Once centre of the Roman Catholic church, Avignon has been left with an unbelievable legacy that you'll have the opportunity to explore today. The unmissable Palais des Papes in the city's ancient quarter should be high on your list. This spot is the biggest Gothic palace ever built and is ringed by three-metre thick walls. Elsewhere, explore Provençal life at its best, strolling leafy squares and diving into excellent restaurants to sample superb French cuisine.
DAY 6: Tournon/Tain l'Hermitage
This afternoon the ship arrives at Tournon and its twin town of Tain l'Hermitage. From the medieval castle in Tournon to the epicurian delights of Valrhona chocolate and Hermitage and Crozes Hermitages wines in Tain L'Hermitage, this stop has something for travellers of every taste.
Picturesque Tournon is best enjoyed at full vantage as you glide into it from the river. Bathed in the Rhône region’s mild climate, nature flourishes here, and a stroll in the delightful Le Jardin d’Eden park shows you this pretty place in full bloom. It's a real oasis of relaxation. For nature lovers, it’s also the perfect place for discovering new plants and trees, so prepare to spend a good couple of hours navigating its bountiful beds and trickling waterfalls. Just up the river from Lyon, Tournon also has its own set of highlights to offer culture and history buffs. We know you'll enjoy your day in this special place.
