Cologne to Cologne
5 Night Rotterdam, Amsterdam and Utrecht Cruise
Make your way to Belgium Treasures, Dutch lust for life and riverboats on the Ruhr
Beurs voor Diamanthandel, the Belgian diamond bourse, has north-facing windows, because it’s important to keep sunlight to a minimum when evaluating the colour and purity of the stones. Antwerp is an old diamond-trading city, but it also has a more down-to-earth side. The city’s most famous chip shop is Frituur N°1 where Maria subjects the truly exquisite chips to a dual-fry process. Amsterdam’s treasures include its diverse range of museums, its glittering canals and, most importantly, its relaxed multicultural society, where every visitor immediately feels at home. Duisburg in Germany’s Ruhr region (or “Pott”) has an equally international quality. Duisburg is a true city on water: the Rhine, the Ruhr, the Rhine-Herne Canal and the world’s largest inland port are all waiting to be explored. When you dock here and take a look at the huge ships that sail the world’s seas, you’re bound to feel a little bit of wanderlust yourself.

DAY 1: Cologne, Germany (Embarkation)
We set sail on our exciting Rhine cruisefor the northern Rhine. But you should not miss out on the opportunity to explore this cathedral city, with its wealth of monuments and attractions. The best way is to arrive a day before your cruise.
DAY 2: Rotterdam, Netherlands
Rotterdam is the second-largest city in the Netherlands, after Amsterdam. Known as ‘Manhattan on the Maas’, it has a more urban, international atmosphere than anywhere else in the whole country. In recent years, Rotterdam has become a centre for architecture – its large architect-designed houses testament to the city’s modernity. With a little luck, you’ll see other cruise ships during your day in Rotterdam, since Europe’s largest maritime port is a major transport hub.
Rotterdam is the home of the continent’s biggest sea port is a thriving metropolis that doesn’t scrimp on modern buildings or international flair. Over the past 20 years, a number of impressive new skyscrapers have sprung up – and there’s no sign of this trend stopping yet.
DAY 3: Amsterdam, Netherlands
In Amsterdam, the city of 1539 bridges, Christmas-lit houseboats bob along the canals. The creative Dutch outdo each other when it comes to Christmas decorations. The brighter it glows, the better it is. In addition to ice rinks for skating and Dutch-style Christmas markets, many museums are mostly open for those who crave a contrast to angel choirs and tinsel.
Few European cities are as diverse as Amsterdam, with its multicultural charm, historic canal district and the highest concentration of museums in the world. Don’t miss the Rijksmuseum, which was restored to its former glory several years ago following a decade-long renovation project. Follow the locals’ example and explore by bike, or take a trip along the canals and discover Amsterdam from the water. Children of all ages will enjoy the NEMO Science Museum, where they can create bubbles big enough to stand in, make liquorice and learn why water is see-through.
DAY 4: Utrecht, Netherlands
There is always something going on in the lively city of Utrecht. Explore the vibrant city centre or visit Utrecht Cathedral. From here, you can enjoy a wonderful vista over the fourth largest city in the Netherlands. Utrecht is also characterised by its many canals, which are lined with canal houses and small street cafés.
The cultural city of Utrecht was once built around the city's landmark, the cathedral tower. And because it stretches over 100 meters far above the rooftops, it always remains in view of the visitor. Getting lost here is practically impossible! So stroll leisurely along the idyllic canals and discover a wide variety of pubs, boutiques, stores, museums, monuments and gardens. The center is easy to explore on foot and there is much to discover, because Utrecht has a lot to offer its guests.
DAY 5: Day of Cruising
Very early departure for Cologne.
DAY 6: Cologne (Disembarkation)
Your cruise comes to an end this morning as you disembark in Cologne after breakfast.
