Cologne to Cologne
4 night Mini Netherlands North Rhine
From Cologne to Amsterdam, Rotterdam and Nijmegen to Cologne.
When arriving in Amsterdam by ship, you immediately feel at home in this city on the water with its rings of canals lined by old merchants' houses. And renting a "fiets" (bicycle) to dash from the old Dutch Masters to the Waterlooplein flea market is an ideal way to soak up the atmosphere. In Rotterdam, Amsterdam's modern sister, you begin to doubt your senses when you see cube houses tipped over onto one corner, or when you look up to see huge raspberries painted on the ceiling. But looking out at the third-biggest port in the world brings you right back down to earth. In the small but beautiful Nijmegen you'll find wonderful parks, a lovingly curated bicycle museum and a museum that you visit in complete darkness: the muZIEum offers the senses a different kind of experience.
Day 1 COLOGNE
We will set off on our exciting Rhine cruise from here, heading for the northern or the southern Rhine. But you shouldn't miss out on the opportunity to explore this cathedral city, with its wealth of monuments and attractions. The best way is to arrive the day before your cruise departs, so that you can relax or simply extend your stay in Cologne after the cruise has ended.Day 2 AMSTERDAM
Amsterdam is an incredibly varied city. It's old yet modern, relaxed yet bustling, and arty while also being commercial. With almost 7,500 listed buildings, it has the highest concentration of historical monuments in the whole country. When your Rhine cruise calls at Amsterdam, you'll be able to discover a piece of history around every corner.Day 3 ROTTERDAM
Rotterdam is the second-largest city in the Netherlands, after Amsterdam. Known as ‘Manhattan on the Maas’, it has a more urban, international atmosphere than anywhere else in the whole country. In recent years, Rotterdam has become a centre for architecture its large architect-designed houses testament to the city’s modernity. With a little luck, you’ll see other cruise ships during your day in Rotterdam, since Europe’s largest maritime port is a major transport hub.Day 4 NIJIMEN
Did you know that Nijmegen is the oldest city in the Netherlands? You only need to cross the Waalburg arch bridge into the centre to understand why the 160,000 inhabitants are so proud of their city: the Waalkade wharf and the silhouette of the city-centre buildings combine to form a truly impressive sight. In this Hanseatic city, tradition and modernity go hand in hand. Discover this wonderful spot directly from your A-ROSA ship during your Rhine cruise.Day 5 COLOGNE
