A river cruise along the Main River, allows cruisers to visit some spectular medieval towns - such as Wertheim, Wurzburg and Miltenberg.

 

 

 

DAY 1: FRANKFURT - EMBARKATION

Ship departs in the evening toward Wertheim.

DAY 2: WERTHEIM

The city is on the River Main in Baden-Wurttemberg, Germany and it was established in the early eighth century.  At this highest part of the city amongst a woodland area is the magnificent Burg Wertheim castle which as many turrets build of red sandstone.  It overlooks the famous old town area which is particularly beautiful with several mediaeval buildings.

 

DAY 3: WURZBURG

Nestled in a landscape of Vineyards, the beautiful city of Wurzburg in Bavaria, Germany is well worth a visit.  At the center of the Franconian wine country, the city is famous for its Cellars, Wineries and Wine bars as well as its own brewery, The Hofbrau Brewery.

 

As well as a thriving wine industry, this city has a rich history with amazing baroque and rococo architecture,  Of particular interest are the two magnificent Palaces, one on either side of the River Main - Wurzburg Residence - a UNESCO World Heritage Sit and the Marienburg Fortress.  There are also baroque Cathedrals, Churches and a wide range of Museums.

Day 4: MILTENBERG

Visit the attractive city of Miltenberg on a Main river cruise thru Germany and you will see why this Bavarian city is called the "Pearl of the Main".  This city is among a few German cities that have hardly changed since WWII.  The majority of the well-preserved structures and streets are the same as a few centuries ago.

 

Miltenberg stretches along the edge of the Main River and focuses on the main lane that the Roman's laid out when the city was first settled.

 

Main attractions  in Miltenberg are: Miltenberg Castle (built in 11th century, the castle is now used as a museum of old and modern art work – Museum.Stadt.Miltenberg),  Fraenkischer Rotwein Wanderweg (medieval architecture), Brauhaus Faust (brewery), Mainbrucke, (a beautiful Bridge),  St. Kilian Kellerei, (Wine cellar).

 

Day 5: FRANKFURT

Ship arrives during the early morning hours. Disembark after breakfast.
