DAY 1: Vienna (Embarkation)
Your cruise starts in Vienna, the glamorous capital of Austria, where every street is full of history and every nook and cranny is brimming with cultural riches. In Vienna, tradition and modernity merge to create a fascinating cityscape that will delight you with its grand palaces, fascinating museums and vibrant markets. Stroll along the pompous Ringstrasse, visit the majestic Hofburg Palace and let yourself be enchanted by the sounds of classical music that permeate the city.
DAY 2: Budapest
Do you know how many bridges Budapest has? There are seven in total – and they span the river between the neighbourhoods Buda and Pest. The most well known is probably the Széchenyi Chain Bridge. Take a look at Budapest’s imposing structures for yourself as you cruise down the Danube. And if you go out onto the sun deck of your A-ROSA ship, you’ll also have an unobstructed view of Budapest’s famous parliament building. The perfect way to experience a stunning city.DAY 3: Budapest
From the Ringstrasse over the St Stephen's Cathedral to the Giant Ferris Wheel in the Prater, Vienna has plenty to offer for your second day. Visit a cosy coffee house and experience the true Viennese coffee culture. Schönbrunn Palace is also worth a visit. The beautiful baroque complex is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and also boasts modern technology: an elaborate virtual reality film lets visitors relive the history of the palace.
DAY 4: Esztergom
Once the capital of Hungary, Esztergom sits right on the bank of the Danube and can be admired directly from the river. The castle tower and mighty basilica form an amazing sight, rising up from the steep bank of the Danube. This is a view you’ll definitely want to photograph during your Danube cruise. So, it’s a good thing that A-ROSA ships have such pleasant sun decks!
DAY 5: Bratislava
Come and discover even more of the Hungarian capital on your second day in Budapest. Discover the historic Fisherman's Bastion and enjoy a spectacular view of the city. The second largest city on the Danube is also home to the famous Gellért Baths. Here you can really unwind in a truly cosy atmosphere.
DAY 6: Bratislava
Bratislava, the youngest capital in Europe, is situated exactly at the point where the country meets Austria and Hungary. This makes it the only capital city in the world that borders more than one neighbouring country. Due to its location, Bratislava has been an ethnic melting pot since ancient times. Cultures meet and merge together. The streets of the old town – lined with well-preserved baroque and rococo city palaces – are filled with the sound of people speaking different languages.
DAY 7: Vienna
Excursion stop. A visit to Melk, the ‘Gateway to the Wachau’, brings you to the Danube Valley UNESCO World Heritage Site, where you can marvel at glorious landscapes. And no trip to the Wachau would be complete without a trip to Melk Abbey, a Benedictine monastery. This is a region where towns and landscapes appear to exist in perfect harmony.
DAY 8: Vienna (Disembarkation)
Your unforgettable cruise comes to an end in Vienna, the city of music, art and flair. Here, where the baroque façades gleam in the sunlight and the aroma of coffee and Sachertorte fills the air, you will be greeted by a mesmerising atmosphere. The majestic buildings along the banks of the Danube reflect in the calm water and create a magical scenery for your last hours on board.
