Golfing Itinerary

Sunday, Day 1 Muirtown

Guests are met at our designated meeting point in Inverness and transferred by private chauffeured minibus to Spirit of Scotland. A Champagne Welcome awaits and perhaps later take an early evening stroll to the sea lock with wonderful views over the Moray and Beauly Firths. Dinner on board.

Monday, Day 2 Muirtown to Dochgarroch

Depart early for the Royal Dornoch Golf Course (1hr 30 mins drive) for a round on the Championship Golf Course, one of Scotland’s famous links courses designed by Tom Morris. (Tee Time of 11.30am) Dornoch dates from 1616 and is internationally acclaimed. The cruise today will take us up the Muirtown lock flight, then a short trip along the pretty section of canal to Dochgarroch. Dinner on board.

Tuesday, Day 3 Dochgarroch to Fort Augustus

After breakfast we transfer to Castle Stuart (20 mins drive) where we play on the Championship Links Golf Course overlooking the Moray Firth.  Lunch on board and then our cruise today will take us down across the world famous Loch Ness with perhaps a chance of spotting “Nessie” before arriving at Fort Augustus. Dinner on board

Wednesday, Day 4 Fort Augustus to Kytra

After breakfast, we visit the private Highland Club, a spectacular exclusive set of residences and a former 19th century Benedictine Monastery. Here we are treated to a falconry and birds of prey demonstration*** on the banks of Loch Ness, and the majesty of the swooping birds against the backdrop of the sweeping Scottish Highlands is not easily forgotten. There is time to explore the pretty village of Fort Augustus before lunch on board, after which our cruise takes us up the “flight of locks” and then on to our pretty mooring at Kytra. This evening we have dinner ashore at a local restaurant.

Thursday, Day 5 Kytra to Laggan Locks

Golf this morning is at nearby Fort Augustus Golf Course, probably the only course in the world kept manicured by a herd of sheep! Featuring 9 holes in a challenging canal side setting. The afternoon cruise today can be partially walked as we cross the very scenic Loch Oich, perhaps stopping en route for a spot of fishing, and onto the pretty Laggan Avenue. As we approach Laggan, our Highland Piper may greet us with a stirring rendition of traditional Scottish music. Dinner on board.

Friday, Day 6 Laggan to Banavie

After breakfast on board we transfer to Newtonmore Golf course (30 mins drive).  Established in 1893 this comparatively flat, easy-walking, parkland course is full of exciting and invigorating challenges. It nestles appealingly in the midst of the Monadhliath and Grampian Mountains and on the banks of the River Spey. Afterwards we return to the Spirit of Scotland and cruise to our final mooring at Banavie beneath Ben Nevis just a stroll from Neptune’s Staircase of locks. If time permits we can visit the ruins of old Inverlochy Castle. Captain’s Farewell Dinner on board.

Saturday, Day 7 Banavie

Passengers disembark at 9.15 after a hearty Scottish breakfast for their transfer back to the **designated drop off point by minibus

 

On alternative weeks the itinerary is in reverse direction.  This itinerary is subject to change.

 **The designated meeting and drop off point is Inverness

*The Cawdor Castle excursion is between 1st May and 6th October only.  An alternative excursion to Fort George will replace it either side of these dates. 

This Golf cruise includes pre-booked and paid tee times and transfers to and from the golf clubs. Hire of clubs, caddy or buggy are not included.

** Other locatins available to book for private charters

A Supplement of $1150 per person for golfing.
